Honestly we've come full circle where the Tool anti-fans are probably more annoying than the hardcore Tool fans and we're probably all just better off not talking about Tool [2]

I have decided that this is their best album. Yep, even better than Stare and EIF.

Nahhhhh. It rules, and maybe almost on par with stare but eif is enshrined in the halls of gods at this point

"Imagine listening to Immolation, Neurosis, and Deathspell Omega and saying to yourself "yep, we can do all three of these at once" and pulling it off flawlessly for six albums straight."
Great comment from some dude on YT

I need to give that one a rip again

I just dont think anyone has come close to the absolute stroke of technical dissonant furious genius that eif was, even these guys

EIF is a prime example of an album that sounds exactly like it's cover art.

"Honestly we've come full circle where the Tool anti-fans are probably more annoying than the hardcore Tool fans and we're probably all just better off not talking about Tool (I say as a Tool fan)"
I like Tool as well, but it was the easiest example for me. Though you aren't wrong about anti Tool fans, use to know guy who would just send me these anti Tool memes because he assumed I fit the "Tool used math to write Lateralus" stereotype when I didn't lol.

don't think I like this as much as Stare into Death and be Still.
This kinda bores me, quite frankly.

“This kinda bores me, quite frankly.” What makes it boring?
Also everything is fire is a masterpiece but I prefer something like shrines. It feels tighter and more focused, plus some sections in eif drags on a little

i think people are looking for a couple of really aggressive and chaotic tracks like caecus or withered and obsolete that gave EIF some further variety

This keeps growing on me. Really didn't want Stare into Death part 2 but this is a great advancement on the sound.

I think this is my second fave, though I suspect it might be #1 if Destroyers hadn't helped define a formative stretch in my life as a musician and writer. 2011 was just a big year.

"You really can't get Cutting the Throat of God until you've suffered ego death from a DMT trip in the back of a Denny's parking lot on a Tuesday at 4am because ego death is the cutting of the throat of the god inside of you"
Everytime I read the word "Denny's" it takes me to sadder times...
And now I just remembered this cuban dude that work the night shifts, his name was Ramses, and he made like $2 an hour... at fucking 3am...
