AND AUBURN EYES
GLISTENING AS YOU WEEP.
Best Tesseract album agreed. And I liked Sonder and Polaris a lot more than most and was also iffy about this album when it dropped, but it is peak. As someone who has dropped off most things in this genre outside of like this and Vildhjarta, I think this is at the apex of being technically busy and wild but melodically sound as hell and just really well paced and written. I couldn't get past 3 tracks into the new Periphery without turning that shit off but this shit still hits so nice for me.

Yeah Periphery lost the plot after P4, what a continuation after their best album to date. TesseracT keeping it musically mature, if the new material is at least 70% as good as this, we have nothing to worry about.
My problem with Periphery is that their aggressive tracks were mostly really cool, but the more melodic ones mostly feel too "poppy" for my taste and the difference between the two could be really striking when they're placed next to each other on the same albums. The Brits here do not really do the same mistake, even "softer" songs such as Burden have an interesting mature edge to them.
Also, I've seen lots of "the best" modern prog bands and I gotta give it to these guys - they're amazing live, might be some of best concerts I've seen
