Publicly yeah I think it’s just political views but he’s also been openly disliked by prominent members of other bands so I think in general people just kind of consider him a tool

Should be noted it was members of politically charged bands

Interesting.
I personally couldn’t give a flying fuck. Everything is always blown out of proportion, especially when it comes to politics.

Ok I get the “dense” description I keep seeing now.
I’m at about a 3.7 on this right now, but this feels like a grower for sure. I think it’ll end up at a 4 but I’ll be conservative for now.
Better than polar, not as good as hail — imo, at least as of right now.

Wrongdoers and Redeemer >>>
This is where I’ve landed too wildcard. I’d put martyr and all hail next.

I just now realized the John Lennon Imagine incorporations into Memorial Hoard lol

“It was a nothingburger that got blown up https://www.metalsucks.net/2020/06/04/norma-jeans-cory-brandan-issues-lengthier-apology-for-anti-black-lives-matter-message/“
I think it should also be pointed out that this happened like a week after George Floyd was murdered, beyond tone deaf and not funny at all. Nothing unforgivable but holy shit my opinion of him fucking plummeted.

And his apology was so pussyfooted. I’d rather someone own up to being a dickhead over some bullshit like
“aw shucks guys really I didnt know 👉👈, I will take time away to learn!”,
when the only thing that idiot learned was to not post his true opinions during politically volatile times.
Look, I’ve continued to listen to lesser bands with members who’ve done far worse shit. in the grand scheme of things, it is just a fucking social media post. But he just chose to say one of the worst possible things at the worst possible time.
But also, tbh when bands refused to be on the same bill as them, i dunno, that kinda tells me that it’s probably been more of a pattern and not just a single post.
All that to say, it seems like he’s just an asshole. (Probably) A harmless asshole, but an asshole.

Gun to my head, and keeping in mind that I only started listening to these guys about a month ago and I’m very much still digesting some of their albums:
Wrongdoers
Redeemer
All Hail
Bless the Martyr
Meridional
The Anti-Mother
Deathrattle
O’ God the Aftermath
Polar Similar
But honestly, looking at it now, it just doesn’t seem right somehow. Polar and o god shouldn’t be the last two but…something has to be, right?
Shit. Honestly Deathrattle could swim or plummet a spot or two, that’s the hardest and newest to rank rn.

Tbh, and I know this won’t be popular, but Bless the Martyr is probably my least favorite, followed closely by this and O God.
This band really came into their own with Redeemer imo, and to me this one just feels like a mishmash of their last three but worse. And Anti Mothers avg is obscene. It’s a great record but I guess not something the nerds on here wanted from them at the time. I don’t know what people had against it *exactly*… I was like 13 and absolutely not listening to shit like this at the time lol
Tbh all the avgs for Redeemer, Anti Mother, and Meridional are all kinda whack
So
Wrongdoers
Redeemer
Meridional
All Hail
Anti Mother
Polar Similar
ehhh the rest. I haven’t listened to the other three enough lately to confidently say where I’d stack them at

I dunno man, I try not to really pay much attention to shit like that. Too many variables and shit like that. He seems like a pretty cool, smart, personable guy in interviews. But who fucking knows?

I feel like I shouldn’t love BtM quite as much as I do simply because I didn’t listen to it at the time (that day and age I was just listening to Tool, Deftones, AiC, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins etc etc — more or less 90s bands). But I think it’s a flawed, messy masterpiece. The messiness is part of why. Just uncompromising, ambitious, raw and authentic. Those are all very important qualities in my music.

O’ God is really good — esp Disconnecktie, shit is incredible — and I like the kindof eerie, primal, almost medical oddity journal feel…very specific sounding but something about the artwork, the sound, the song titles.
But in the end, it’s kindof more of the same, only not quite as good and a little derivative coming off BtM. It’s like Linkin Park’s Meteora to Hybrid Theory essentially.

Solid ranking though for sure man. Agreed on Anti Mother. Surrender your sons and robots 3 actors 0 are two of their very best. Then you have self employed chemist, Murphy, vipers, hornets, daughters…pretty fucking stacked record.

Spearmint Revolt and Heartache were pretty immediate for me, but damn, Memorial Hoard and Aria Obscura hittin’ hard now. They just kinda whizzed by uninterestingly my first couple listens
This def seems kinda front loaded so far.
EDIT: LOOOOLLLL holy shit, just realized how much I’m spamming this thread. But hey, this bitch needs attention and I’m gonna give it to her good!!!

Yeah the back half of this grew off me a bit. Doesn't have the same heavy hitters as All Hail with Careen and Anna. Heartache is a banger though

If Loss then Leader-Careen-Anna is a hell of a 3rd act
Heartache is indeed great but I’m still a little mixed on Penny Margs, a killing word and sleep explosion. But they feel like growers and I’ve definitely heard the first half more times than the 2nd half (throwing it on in the car, driving 20-25 mins, then deciding to listen to something else on the drive back). I’m definitely gonna devote more time to this though.
