It is frighteningly tight on spin two

A definite upgrade on this for me. Nice balance between off-kilter weirdness and lean focused skronk. There’s a ton of detail but it’s concise. Prod might be amongst their best too, it gives me Vile Luxury redux vibes

great production on new one agreed -- i've never been a huge fan of their compositional choices in the off-kilter category, and Goldstar seems to return to following a similar trend.

Although I didn't love Spirit of Ecstasy overall, I did appreciate the direction it was trying to go and was hoping for a refinement of those ideas.

new one is first IT i've enjoyed front to back. really enjoy how lean it is. 38 min is a perf runtime for this band. great stuff

New one might just be their best. Love the nod to The Beatles' I Want You (She's So Heavy) on the last track too.

Gomorra Nouveaux might be one of the best songs they've ever made, that shit is going to translate incredibly to a live setting.

It's defo one of their headbangiest tunes and it's brilliant. Wouldn't call it their best though, not even on the album.

Gomorra Nouveaux a big highlight for me too, think the new one is a step in the right direction after this

My faves were still Hotel Sphinx and Pleasuredome, but the call back to the Beatles on the closer was rad.

My only disappointment with the album is it’s really only 7 full songs and we had 4 singles. But it is great the whole way through

Don’t give up on Goldstar Hawks! Keep jamming, different setting maybe? It’s wonderful and though you call it (or maybe it was specifically the riffs?) directionless, I find it’s incredible focused and tight.

Directionless may be the wrong word. It just seemed like I kept waiting for it to REALLY hit and it just never did. Idk its weird because I love all of their stuff and Goldstar just doesn't effect me in the same way. At least not yet.

Give it time Hawks. It's varied, tight and a whole lotta fun.

band is quintessential style over substance but I haven’t given the new one a proper listen yet.
