almost impressive how he combines dumb-things-to-say with dumb-ways-to-say-them. the stop-and-start/pause-heavy delivery is so lame lol, and then obviously the lines themselves...

Yeah, I can safely say I've never been a fan of Jay Z's rapping for that reason. His style and enunciation just drives me up the wall. I feel like he's just a trusted brand that artists like to shoehorn into their albums, prob helps with promotion

my first three hip hop albs were ready to die, illmatic (both S-tier) and reasonable doubt (A-tier) so gotta give him some credit on that front

lol it's a shit verse. the lyrics aren't great but even if it was peak poetry, j-zay still sounds like an annoying cunt

What the fuck you guys doing demanding non-silly verses in a Kanye record?

Y'all got to keep it 300, like the Romans.

I just think the song would be so much better without it.

it's a dumb drumless momentum-killing "opener" but it's sooooo good as the first song lol. I've said this before but it reminds me of "fourfiveseconds" and I'm ultimately very much a proponent of that song even though a lot of people hate it. "jail" is thrilling melodically, and I wouldnt say that about that many songs..."wuthering heights"?

but the jay-z verse sucks so bad idk what to tell you

jay-z verse in Jail is probably the most hilariously terrible thing to drop this year since Ashnikko's mixtape in Feb

it’s equally mediocre as every other Jay-Z verse ever recorded

Listen, Jay Z wrote that verse in like 45 seconds, he's got a triple entendre in there, he got the emotional sentiment, he teased Watch the Throne 2, what else do you want from the man?

I don't understand why anyone would care about lyrics in a Jay-Z verse in 2021, or care about lyrics on a Kanye album at any time, or care about lyrics in rap in general tbh

the next time i have stuttered convulsions over a set of lyrics I'll have no memory of within 5 mins, I'll make sure there is one good reference just so people can say I know my craft
