- Every second of this album I feel I'm hearing a band trying to sound like Ulcerate, Gorguts or Deathspell Omega instead of creating something of their own.

I’ll come at this from a different angle; for me, this album tops anything those bands have done. For one, it’s absolutely light years ahead of DsO in terms of timbre and recording quality. This is genuinely one of the best sounding heavy records I’ve ever heard, it’s phenomenal how clear and heavy it is, without being close to brickwalled.

I don’t see how that’s any more controversial than saying an album like this is ‘derivative’, when it’s clearly forging a path of its own. I genuinely think this is the absolute pinnacle of that style. Those bands are without question highly influential, but I just think this is plain better in practically every department.

Don't get me wrong this is damn near the cream of the crop. You just listed literally the only two other bands with multiple works id consider better than this lol

Don't care about dso

Also, this band sounds absolutely nothing like Ulcerate; completely different compositional style, completely different way of recording, completely different guitar tones, different implementation and execution of vocals. Different atmosphere, too. This is like like lumping two completely different sounding heavy metal bands together because they use melody.

I think it does. That’s a separate point to what they sound like, though. I mentioned them as a reference because they were all lumped in originally.

I think we all agree with this and that s totally okay if its the thing you mostly pursue. They fkin filled their bandcamp mentioning it.
