His singing style in general isn't sustainable. Like, most singing in rock is gonna wear a voice down over time, even though some singers are hella resilient. I appreciate he can do it for a few more yeara though. It's an extreme vocal performance, stuff like that is never completely safe

" even though some singers are hella resilient."

the fact that John Anderson of Yes still sounds remotely like his 1970s self (after surgery) is mind-boggling, and honestly gives me hope for Rody et al

This album is good. But my god.... All Hands is amazing.

if i rebroke my voice for the "yes a blonde" part, it would be worth it

Yes, All Hands is perhaps their catchiest song of all time, but Rivet is a close contender imo.

The first line still pops into my head out of nowhere at least once a day. Send help

You can thank Frank Sinatra for that one.

Coming by, just after listening to their earlier albums the other day, the first thing i'd say to ppl who are having a rough time with this one is to try seperate the different artistic approaches from the pre Volition releases and this one.

^ It's definitely a different beast but I still dig it.

I really liked their more scaled-back approach in this one compared to the flashiness and more obvious metalcore style of the first few

I'm glad they reduced the flashiness. The tech on Volition and PM was starting to get over the top, and not in a good way.

(basically I can't play any of it on guitar and was jealous, so I am glad they eased up on this album)

I don't mind it on Volition, but I don't remember any of Pacific Myth. That one is so characterless.

Volition is the worst PTH, agreed!

I consider Pacific Myth a part of Volition because I feel the same about it.

In all fairness, the mix on PM didn't do justice to the band's craftsmanship. PM was crowdfunded as well as Volition and got released via independent subscription-based schedules, afaic. It also came to my conclusion that Harbinger still slaps.

I dunno, most days Volition is a tie with Scurrilous. Even if it is their "worst" album, its still better than like... 95% of the stuff from their contemporaries.

The solo in Harbinger is the best they've ever done

I took way too long to finally listen to this. Absolute banger of an album, perhaps my second favorite PTH offering behind Kezia. Rody sounds better than ever.

And Volition >>> Scurrilous.
