There’s absolutely no way every business destroyed by riots will be funded and rebuilt by insurance and local government. My brother (a Sputnik lurker for 10 years) lives 5 blocks away from where George was murdered and he says the damage is reeeeeaally bad.
That being said, until people listen to reason, you won’t find me defending the tyrannical actions of the police... as sad as destruction may be, minority’s voices were being silenced, and that is much more tragic imo.

I don't think anyone thinks looting is a good thing to do, it's just not the main issue at hand when cops are brutalizing people on the streets for no reason so often.

Some police* I know everyone likes to act as though all cops are bad and racist af, but at the end of the day, a lot of cops are good people. I wish this movement had some kind of coherent objective revolving around the real underlying socioeconomic problems. Blacks aren't responsible for half the murders and more than half the thefts in America yearly because they're bad people, it an issue with redlining. Inaccessibility of education and other fundamental reaources as well as living in terrible neighborhoods - systemic problems that badly need changing. I feel like everyone is busy saying "Fuck cops" instead of getting down to the bedrock of the problem. And no, tearing up local neighborhoods and destroying businesses and homes of working class people isn't going to change that

I will agree that cops have been out of line tthese last few days. I've seen them attacking peaceful protesters and it's not okay, although it's obvious who's giving them orders to do so
