i have never listened to NIN mostly because my dad is ultra opposed to Trent Reznor, i have a few of their albums in my listen log so ill hear them eventually.

my dads source was his friends' dad used to tour and even play with some of these bands back in their heyday and apparently he said things about said bands that spooked my dad hard enough to oppose them. he got really worked up i tried to buy Vol. 3 a few months ago.
