@SlicePaper Periphery don't give a shit about being proggy, it just elevates some of their songs, this is very hard for you to understand isn't it

"Tundra youre literally arguing that its okay for a Prog Metal album to not be Proggy."

wtf since when do people care about labels this strictly? I guess we should get mad at Radiohead for creating an experimental album when they originally set out to write generic 90s rock

also yeah let's pretend that the 16 minute song that opens this album is NOT proggy hahaha jesus christ

If an album doesn‘t have all the traits of the genre the band is supposedly playing, it is common knowledge that said album is complete garbage. Fact.

No but Radiohead didnt simplify the fuck out of Alt Rock. They added on new elements that were interesting. Periphery dont add anything they just take what bands like Meshuggah and SikTh do and make it more simplistic.

Thats not an equivalent whatsoever.

I can't wait till this thread dies down and this site can be fun again. the negative energy people put into a band just minding their own business and making music they like is...well astounding

idk if you guys realize this but progressive music hasn't meant anything more than doing extended instrumental solos and writing long songs for like twenty years. "Experimental" is the one that still refers to pushing genre boundaries.

It's dumb but yeah that's how it is.
