this album is awesome.

i remember there was an Ian Cohen article where he argued that the Wonder Years' "Greatest Generation" was the working class version of "Modern Vampires of the City." I feel like this is the actual working class version of "Wide Awake."

And why are you still here? It's tragic hanging around & being pleased about averages dropping just so you can feel justified in your own taste/faith in Sput/whatever.

It's currently top 5 for me. I don't doubt that if I'd heard 300-500 albums it wouldn't be (actually 80+), but currently it's holding steady as one of the better albums I've heard from this year.

Yeah that’s basically my problem with many younger leftists. They prioritize pronouns and censorship while wages have been stagnant for years. Among other things obviously

Don’t know where these catagories came from but they seem like an attempt to divide people with good intentions. Pretty sure most leftists care about workers and the marginalized. I mean listen to the songs like I’m scum and great from here.

I think you are talking about neoliberals and I’m talking college kids with pink hair. Both are wack tho

I can't imagine a good-faith reading of this album coming to the conclusion that it supports neoliberalism. Then again I can't imagine someone actually being mad about college kids with pink hair so what do I know

Not really mad at college kids or their pink hair I just find them ridiculous and counterproductive to any actual serious progressive movement. Not all of them obviously but I know plenty of those types that care about rather minuscule issues imo. I’d rather tackle practical leftist things like healthcare and prison reform or something like that. That’s just me tho

Ehhh. fair enough I guess. I agree those issues need much more solving then the type of social justice issues college kids tend to champion, but it's a lot easier to rally around those issues than what a lot of them see as just boring shit about the economy. If even a fraction of those kids are set on the path towards more hardline leftism via social justice movements then it's worth it in my book.
