Not that there aren't people that genuinely hit Maynard as a singer, he's one that people just love to hate on for some reason. I don't see anything wrong with him in So Long, I think he's awesome.

Maynard is one hell of a vocalist AND frontman. Comparing him with Layne makes no sense, their styles are totally different and they both excel in what they do.

In his class/style or whatever, Maynard shits on any other singer (and we know there has been/will be a fair amount of Mayclones out there).

The Patient is one of my top 3 Tool songs. Extremely underrated, but damn, what a gem.

The Patient is amazing agreed. The high notes at the end are very emotionally powerful

The Patient is one of the best Tool songs and Maynard is one of the best singers ever, probably my favorite of the past 25 years, maybe tied with Thom Yorke. Tom Berninger is up there too.

Could list quite a few I prefer but yeah, Maynard is a good vocalist for sure.

Maynard can't sing some parts like he used to because of his age and you can't blame him for that. Chino was always awful live

Chino's gucci live as long as he doesn't jump around like a retard witch he does 95% of the time, try to sing well when you run around

Man i don't know about that. He strains a hell of a lot even without running around.

He has some good performances yeah but on the whole he is not as consistent as Maynard.

I love Chino too but we gotta stay realistic here

"Maynard can't sing some parts like he used to because of his age and you can't blame him for that. Chino was always awful live"

This sentiment however i can agree with, while on the other side there are vocalists out there like Mike Patton (who is the same age) or even older (Bruce Dickinson) who basically maintained their vocal abilities
