i beg to differ, their similarity to glassjaw is super obvious but also fairly superficial.

Fake History is like a love letter to Glassjaw/early Thrice/Thursday.

Fake History is a great post-hardcore record. Sure the Glassjaw influences are obvious, but the band certainly had a unique twist on the style and Jason just wrecked shit on that album. The drums on it were better than the the drums on any GJ release (besides maybe OCG), and the songs were a bit faster than the usual GJ track. Doesn't mean they were necessarily better but people act like they sounded exactly the same when I just don't think that's true.
Actually, I think Fake History is so good that the fact that it was the only good album any of its members were ever involved in is the biggest disappointment in post-hardcore history. Yes, even more disappointing than Refused's Freedom.
Also, after letting MC settle in, it's a good album but clearly GJ's least significant album. I hope they make another and the production is better and it has more emotion to it. The whole album you keep waiting for Daryl to explode and let the art consume him like it does on the best parts of GJ's discography but it never comes. Also shit Beck if you're gonna have Billy Rhymer drum on your album let him write his own stuff here and there.

I think people who dislike MC's production hates bass.

On first listen this starts off strong and hits a slump somewhere after Strange Hours.

it's less varied than W&T but I still like it a lot

On first listen I'd 3 it. The first 3 tracks plus Strange Hours is phenomenal. Then its kinda hit or miss. This is my 2nd GJ album. 1st was W&T which was miles ahead of this imo.

This is probably still my least favorite Glassjaw album, but given their amazing discog, that's not really a mark against this. It doesn't have that unfiltered venom of EYEWTKAS or the variety of W&T, but this album has a unique style while still sounding like Glassjaw. Given that they could've gone the ATDI route and just made a copy of their most famous work, I'm happy with what they did here.

Why does no one ever mention the OCG singles/EP thing. That collection of songs although only 5 songs is second to W & T for me.
Also it's a shame that Cut and Run is so short cause it had potential to be one of the best on the album.

OCG is my fav ye. Each song is a classic tune
This>worship tbh. Prefer the sound theyre going for, and the super short runtime gives this so much replay for me. There’s barely a difference tho theyre both incredible

Material Control isn't that out of left field after OCG + Coloring Book. The lack of melodic hooks, sure but it does sound like a progression after those eps.
