Ire Works for me was the most complete package, I agree.

Everything about that record was so cold and clinical and the artwork, titles etc were perfect. Milk Lizard video obviously a bit of a daft exception but meh.

overall tho im not hating this as much as I expected but its still a severely underwhelming final album coming from a band that once upon a time made an album that had some actual substance to it

It's all subjective but personally I think you're overrating Ire Works quite a bit. It's the only DEP album I appreciate now more than I did when it came out, mostly because I was probably disproportionately disappointed in it at the time. Some incredible standouts but I still find there's a fair amount of filler on it.

For me it probably goes Miss Machine > Calculating > Ire Works > Irony > OP > Killer. To be fair the first four all excellent.

Apologies and Terminal are my lowlights at the moment, but I still dig them.

Ire Works is a rare treat in the bands discog where they showcase any sort of artistic restraint whatsoever as opposed to obliterating any semblance of poetic songwriting with the same attack copter wankathon "rip your dick off" shreddary of every single one of their other albums at any random given moment

Dead as History was my shit for like a year after Ire came out, seriously underrated track, menacing as shit but restrained and hyper subtle.

Dead As History is possibly their best song

this is actually kind of neat but that orchestral part was super gimmicky and unnecessary

Dead as History and Mouth of Ghosts were both awesome.

Black Bubblegum and Sick on Sunday were both garbage.
