"I really don't think he could ever put out something that will top XXX for me, but I like this better than Old immediately." [3]

"you were worried after hearing When It Rain, Really Doe and Pneumonia?....."

I actually only heard When it Rain all the way through before listening to the album, which I loved. I was mainly just thinking that it was getting over hyped, and how Danny manages this type of consistency while waiting so long between albums is beyond my understanding, but that's part of his appeal now, I guess.

dunno how one could think one or the other is "a lot more consistent", they both are

XXX hits a lot harder when it's time to hit hard, but that's not to say that this album is lacking.

This is easily his most consistent album as far as overall tone and presentation. It is a very cohesive product, and I'm digging it pretty hard. The only real complaint I could make is that I wish there were some narrative driven tracks like Scrap Or Die or 25 Bucks/Wonda Bread.

Nah some tracks on here are a lot better then others, where as on XXX every track is more or less knocked out of the park. Also this album def dips in quality after Dance in the Water.

xxx is consistent in that all tracks are more or less good, but no more than that. I seem to be on the minority of people who think Danny's been getting better with every release.

as a cohesive piece it probably is, but theres no single songs here i like as much as monopoly, outer space, die like a rockstar etc. plus the lyrics on xxx are much more memorable

Haven't jammed in full yet, but if it tops XXX, I will be surprised personally. That album is the definition of consistent and bobs in and out of darkness and hilarity with incredible ease.

From what I've heard of this so far, the production is crazy and great, but if it lacks the more minimal tracks that I loved on XXX like Party All the Time, DNA, etc, then it probably won't quite stack up to me.

I actually want this album to be longer sometimes. It feels so much shorter than it is.
