I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Opeth were familiar with that song and borrowed that riff. They are pretty notorious for borrowing riffs so I wouldn't put it past them. However, the fusion of acoustic passages and metal is an interesting one since Orchid and Bergtatt were released the same year.

ha wow, yeah definitely. Interesting though, I'm glad you pointed that out, I always think of these two bands as somewhat pioneering that blend, but a whole 7 years earlier by Bathory is a big difference

Your previous posts where you wanted people to check out those two links because it would make for a good discussion in an Opeth thread and nobody did. There are so many missed opportunities on this site for people to actually discuss interesting topics that constantly get dismissed, and I was just saying that I would enjoy this site a lot more if people focused more on discussing music and ideas. That's all.

All we can do is agree about how Morningrise is actually the best Opeth, but this one is prettty close
