Same with me back then, it's the best way to go. She once said that every album is sort of an answer to the last one, which I totally see.
She's really gone overboard on the last 3 albums in terms of complexity, those are om a different level than the other ones ... rhythmically, first and foremost

Yeah, Utopia is Björk being blissful, which - for her - translates into crazy complex rhythms and intricate melodies. So that's neat.

I wasn't a fan of the wandering & (to me) meandering/directionless Utopia, maybe I'll revisit it sometime. The two before it are both excellent though.

Honestly, it's pretty amazing how she does that. Courtship is the best example for that. It's completely unorthodox musically (understatement tbh), yet she manages to convey an up-beat feel.

I agree when it comes to single songs or parts, especially in the middle (Features Creaturs *cough*). It starts off superb though, and it ends nearly as good.

speaking of Courtship, Rik did you see the live tv performance of it?

Yeah, that one underlined the strange way in which the song functions. Watching a bunch of musicians play so tightly and yet (seemingly) completely past one another is an interesting thing to witness ... There are certainly better songs on Utopia, but choosing that one as a tv performance is such a strange decision, and seeing how it plays out in that setting just highlights how special it is.
Edit: The stage and mask design were beautiful, obviously.

For sure, a lot of people were alienated by that performance, but it made me re-appreciate Utopia for what it is, despite of losing flow in the mid-section of the tracklist.

The problem of the album's middle section isn't the lack of flow but rather the lack of memorable moments (and those that it has feel rather pale to me, like the beat at the end of Losss). Courtship is obviously an exception.
Great album anyway though. It's more of a "it could have been even better if..." thing.

Well, I was referring more toward the reactions online; you know, the crowd missing the Björk of Post.

Björk's voice is only good when used as a sample in a Death Grips song.
