This must be one of the best (if not the best) review I've read so far. Great job. I'm gonna listen to this and then I'll get back here.

After recently jamming Heritage, I realised how awesome that album is and how meh PC is.

Heritage had plenty of Opeth if you ask me. The atmosphere and ambiance still felt the same to me

It had just as great atmosphere but it couldn't be more different from their medieval gothic sound, it's sounds warmer, like a summer/autumnal atmosphere

^ either they have very appropriate album art for the music's mood, or you're getting suckered by the
visuals, Talons! lol

I remember the first time I listened to Heritage.
I was 17 and in the bathtub rubbing my ears with a bar of soap enjoying the hell out of Mikael's clean vox and Legolas' furious drum fills.

this is not a major step down from heritage and I loved Heritage, maybe mostly because I had never been a trve Opeth fan till 2011. I'd like to see what they'll do next, have no expectation.

This sounds more like "trv Opeth" than Heritage did IMO. Combines their new prog sound with the darker atmosphere of classic Opeth releases. I enjoy both records but prefer this one

"Combines their new prog sound with the darker atmosphere of classic Opeth releases."
Heritage did that much more better in my opinion

Heritage was more of its own thing subtely using Opeth's songwriting style, this seems to try harder to capture that old magic while simultaneously being even more of an homage to 70's prog rock and doesn't work as well

Kinda regret preordering this guy on vinyl back in july. Album's great but not 25 bucks great
But yeah heritage is superior
