i'm sure we move in different circles but i find vocal nirvana detractors way more ubiquitous than the kind of people who think they reinvented rock music or whatever. nevermind has somehow become underrated among a certain kind of music listener

anyway nirvana is good and shits all over the other big grunge bands despite not having an album i can get behind unreservedly

"It's way better than Nevermind"

Yeah tbh I don't really see how people could prefer that over this

yeah 731 thing is anecdotal evidence aside one demographic clearly outnumbers the other

"anyway nirvana is good and shits all over the other big grunge bands despite not having an album i can get behind unreservedly"

can't really agree there, i've found soundgarden, pearl jam and especially alice in chains to be a lot more enjoyable

Easily, Nirvana's good and I love this album, but other grunge bands are far more interesting on the whole

I don't like Pearl Jam for a few reasons, but I do think Eddie Vedder writes beautiful lyrics.

there is absolutely nothing interesting about pearl jam's brand of ponderous shit rock with terrible vocals

nirvana draws from a way more interesting set of influences than those other bands and does it far better

Influence wise maybe, but Soundgarden's instrumentally tighter, takes more chances because they had the prowess to do so, and made their sound more commercial without sounding toooooo poppy unlike Nevermind, plus Cornell has the best vocals of the big 4.

Like I said, Vedder's lyrics are phenominal, but yeah his voice sucks and their music is only okay

See Alice has Jar of Flies, Soundgarden has Superunknown, and PJ have more interesting stuff than anything Nirvana put out

I'd go Soundgarden > AiC = Pearl Jam > Nirvana
