dissonance applies way more to Ulcerate than Immolation. i see the influence and I think it follows that "if you like Immolation you will probably like Ulcerate" but that's about where the comparison ends for me.

I don't even know anymore since I don't pay attention to most of them. Skeletal Remains was rubbed in my face all week this week so I was kinda forced into giving them attention. Otherwise I don't really invest myself in music I dislike. Life's too short to do anything other than listen to what I love.

I don't know the dudes in Ulcerate personally, so I don't know what they listened to growing up, nor what influenced them (and if there are any interviews with them out there where they talk about this stuff, I haven't read them). that being said, if I was to pick one single album from another band to compare to their style, From Wisdom to Hate might be it.
on another note, I hate when people get all pissed at band comparisons like "ugh x band doesn't sound like y band at all" -- this is music discussion and comparing/contrasting bands and styles is part of what makes it interesting. i don't think most people are saying Ulcerate (or any other band) sound exactly like whatever band they're comparing them to, more likely they're talking about small similarities in sound or influence.
