Over fucking rated. But I'd be a liar if I said I didn't think this was the best thing ever when I was 12.

Meteora is the overrated one, not this.

It definitely feels a little aged, but fuck it I still love this.

Meteora sounds a lot less dated imo, this has way more of a grungy vibe which I started to dislike

Meteora and HT are amazeballs [2]
Basically the only things I listened to when I was a kid. These would get a 5 just based on nostalgia and sentimental value, honestly.

The only reason any Linkin Park album has an average rating over 3 is people nostalgic for when they were a dumb teenager.
Change my mind.
Seriously, though, imagining stuff like this and Green Day as "classic rock" along with Led Zeppelin and Tool is just crazy to me.

True, but there is something about this music, and why it has gotten popular that you can't just throw away with a 'nostalgia'-argument
|

You rated it 2.5, so you can't disagree that strongly...
Only ever heard a few songs from this, but based on those I'd probably give it a 2. Not the worst ever, but not good.

I probably wouldnt even have this at a 3 if it wasnt for the nostalgia factor.

Nah a lot of the tracks aged well, that's why people rate it over 3.

I like how he casually threw Tool in with Zeppelin.

I think it's fair to say Linkin Park was the voice for a generation that has since grown older and moved past that rather immature, teenage angst. In that regard, the emotional core of Hybrid Theory might have aged poorly but received marks for that nostalgia factor.
I think it's equally fair to say quite a few tracks, "Papercut" among them, still have a good amount of appeal. It's not all based on upbringing necessarily.

I don't think this is abysmal, and I can see why some people like it. I just find it weird that people are rating it as a classic, and I think if it came out today it would probably get rated in the 2-3 range on average. I burst out laughing when I heard Crawling.
Without wanting to derail the conversation, I mentioned Tool because Lateralus is one of the highest rated albums of the century on here. Obviously they aren't in the same musical era as Zeppelin.

Well for a lot of people they still think the music is compelling as well as the message. And yeah, nostalgia is a hell of a drug, with some 5s being more out of respect. Hard to deny it influenced a lot of people's music tastes as they grew older.
