My first experience with the band was 'Fear of a Blank Planet'. I got it, and I was into the title track, but couldn't really get into the rest. I also had 'In Absentia', but that was even worse because FOABP was super dark and brooding (which is what I was into at the time), and IA was much more light-sounding.

Six months later, I'm on a plane, and it's a bright, sunshiny day above the clouds, and the colors reminded me of the ones on the cover of this album. I listen to it, and it fit my mood so damn perfectly that it was all I listened to during the flight. I remember vividly listening to the line, "One of the wonders of the world is going down; it's going down, I know" as the plane was going down for the landing, and thinking that this was one of the best music-listening experiences I'd ever had.

Ever since then, PT has been among my favorite bands. And I've gotten into so much of their music, and there are albums that I can say are objectively better (FOABP, for example, is much more cohesive and doesn't drag near as much), and there are songs on other albums that are better than all the ones here ("Arriving Somewhere...")...but this album has always remained my favorite.

Strip The Soul riffs so hard and the last two minutes are always chilling.

Some parts of this blow me away, other parts I'm a bit indifferent about.

This and stupid dream are the only pt albums that i really dig in full, out of the ones i've heard at least. The others are decent but pretty overrated imo.

This is one of their best for me. Definitely better than anything that came after.
