Plus, as much as people like to bash Rick Rubin, I love hearing the band's classic doom metal sound with a fuller production like this. It just gives the riffs more weight!

I think Iommi, Geezer and Dio did a way better work with the production on The Devil You Know

Which is an album that has aged way better than 13 imo

As an audiophile I really hate Rick Rubin, well, his production work at least (since I don't know him as a person). And considering this album is produced loud af (pretty terrible in a bad way) I still enjoy the songs. If it had been produced more dynamically this could have been even better.

the world of metal needs more Martin Birches and less Rick Rubins

seems like an odd choice but i'd wanna hear Brendan O'Brien produce a sabbath album, it'd be raw as fuck but somehow clean

With that said, Brad was a great choice of drummer for this - especially since on a musical level, RATM placed so much emphasis on the heavy grooves and riffs just like Ozzy-era Sabbath

This album gets a bit too much shit imo, it's a good sendoff to their legacy

It's pretty good, it's just marred by the same production loudness issues as Death Magnetic (glares at Rick Rubin). Would easily be a 4 for me if not for that

Hans Moleman “I was saying bill ward” .gif. Wilk is a great drummer but doesn’t swing hard enough for my taste here.
