Fish show me one person who enjoys their 1s more than 2.5s

1.5s are "Wow this is terrible stay far away from this"
1s are "Fucking abominable. A terrible excuse for music."
Music is never that offensive unless you're just seriously oversensitive
I don't see why you have to make that difference out

"What's the point in it. It just leads to inflated ratings and lower differentiation at the higher
end, i.e. the bit that actually matters"
Because I don't think that something I don't enjoy, say Neurosis, should be put on the same level as Brokencyde. Ever. I might not enjoy Neurosis, but I respect what they're doing, it just doesn't reside with me.

I dunno I find Brokencyde and Waking the Cadaver pretty offensively bad. Much worse than something that's just really bad.

well you seem to strongly dislike how we rate things here, fish...also who says they don't enjoy
their 2.5's more than their 1's
I mean I get the impression people set aside different ratings for things they don't enjoy at all
and "tolerating more" is not the same as "enjoying more"
I'm not the one making a big deal out of this

How is this a 2 but BMTH albums are a 4.5? Man, you're hopeless Anarchist.

And anyway my original interpretation of the ratings was that "poor" didn't necessarily mean
"offensive", just mostly uninspiring and uninteresting. Which isn't what music's meant to be no matter
how not-bad it is
I always wondered why people had average ratings at around 3.6 or why people made a big deal out of my
low ratings. And it just shows that there's little point in rating how bad an album is cos it's not a
common or relevant thing most of the time. I generally start at 1.5 when I listen to an album and
every subsequent 0.5 is then added on.

Most people have an average rating at around 3.5 cuz that's in the middle and also the most common rating for people duh
|

The middle is 3

Maybe because for the most part people try to listen to albums they will likely enjoy, therefore higher average ratings. Pretty simple stuff

greg84 is workin his ass off to raise that rating to around a 4.3
and its workin i think!

I've posted this before and I've been rating like this before I came across it but I think it's relevant http://rateyourmusic.com/list/SellMeAGod/why_i_rate__a_word_about_thee_benefits_of_a_positive_rating_model

I always wondered why people had average ratings at around 3.6
Because no one(other than trolls who want to hate or retards) go listen to albums they'll probably
won't enjoy, they'll just prefer sticking to something they likely WILL enjoy and not waste their time
on something they probably won't

3.5 is my most common rating followed by 4 so it makes sense that the average would be 3.5
|
| |
Yeah obviously but it doesn't mean your ratings aren't inflated more than they need to be
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
Yeah I should go out of my way to listen to every album that comes out and then I'd have tons of 2.5s yeah no
|
| |
From what I've seen the most common rating is 4, but it's balanced out by all the below scores, a 1 has a huge influence because it's an extreme
