It's a solo that Petrucci wrote and played backwards. I dunno, it doesn't come off as great or anything to me.
As cheesy as it is, I think The Answer Lies Within is a great ballad, the second half lets it down a bit though.

Agreed. ACOS is good, but not as good as octavarium t/t. I'd that most of their ballads are good. Obviously ones like Along for the Ride and Wither, if that counts have awful lyrics. The majority of them are good though, like Spacedyevest, Wait For Sleep, Vacant, Anna Lee. hmmm tempted to go relive my 14 year old DT fantasies now
