From Sinking is one of the best here. The way it goes from tranquil to chaotic towards the end it makes for a fucking powerful track

while i love this album to death does anyone else feel as though there is a somewhat lack of closure to the tracks , as though they are building toward a climax they never quite reach (and i'm not just referring to 'weight' here), but in retrospect this might be the very aspect that keeps me coming back to this album.

@BallsDeep

Given your name and comment I'm not surprised at the response lol. But I kinda see what you mean. There are definitely climactic moments but I'm struggling to remember a time where they do what Godspeed often does for example - just when you think they can't build it any more, they click into another gear and the true apex of emotion is hit.

That's something that has always amazed me with them and no other band does quite as well, in my experience. Anyway a rambling way of saying, "maybe you're onto something."

Yeah I worded it a bit (sillily?) but for example where Panopticon's 'climaxes' are extremely heavy and very discernible from its build ups, this one's build ups/climaxes are much more subtle (to emulate the ebb and flow of an ocean i guess). lol maybe i was looking into it too deeply, I'd had a few cones which always puts me in that kind of mood.

Here's a question some of you may be able to answer withfirst hand experience though; Would this be a good album to listen to whilst tripping on acid/shrooms? I can see it going both ways haha

while Absence's climaxes are massive and unmistakable and Wavering barely has any

WR has little but what the songs climax it's incredible. WR is more a prog metal album though which is why the build ups are in short supply.

@Balls

I'd say probably yeah. I listened to Low Tide off their Aerogramme split while tripping/baked and it was incredible.

Dulcinea and Garden of Light are great but i don't really enjoy the rest of that album. Maybe it will grow on me like this one did but It hardly gets any spins when I've got their other stuff to listen to.

Absence of Truth is great. Honestly I like it and Panopticon about as much - but I seem to rate that album less than most around here. If I'm going to pick up an Isis record today though I usually reach for this or Mosquito Control. The riffs on Mosquito are like a ton of bricks.
