I think the vocals are awesome on this. Sure the cleans aren't perfect, but I think on songs like Widower, the piano makes the song seem somewhat "pretty", but the vocals give the song a subtle aggressive edge, and I think little things like that work really well.

i think they should take on the pianist as a band member b/c he's the best part of the album...that's not meant as a slight to the rest, b/c this is 4-4.5 material without the vox...

I'm hearing 4.5 material with the vox.

Yah well a 65 year old man isn't really going to jump at the idea of DEP's touring schedule and stage antics.

I'm just wondering, honestly, how many days passed since you first listened to the album and the day you started writing your review about it being a piece of art. Is TDEP's work so accessible that one can judge it so quickly?

"I'm just wondering, honestly, how many days passed since you first listened to the album and the day you started writing your review about it being a piece of art. Is TDEP's work so accessible that one can judge it so quickly?"
manos, I have been listening to DEP about seven or eight years now, in addition to listening to their entire discography dozens of times (along with this album about twenty times before writing the review). From this extensive listening, I can quickly and easily judge each of their albums and compare what they did right or wrong. While Calculating Infinity will always be their best album (for their contributions to an entirely new realm of music), this album best sums up the evolution of Dillinger to this point in addition to showcasing every element they have tried up until now. They learned how to balance their sound to create what I am calling a piece of art. Also, please realize that I was saying it is a 'piece of art' in comparison to their past work (the 'don't think they've gone soft on us' sums up that fact, as I'm relating it to their entire discography).

For everyone that thinks Ire Works is a piece of crap, what do they think of the god-awful bonus track?

"I don't get whats the rave about this album.. :?"
Please explain to me what is to not rave about this album. This isn't Three Days Grace or Linkin Park. By that I mean this album has some musicianship and creativity and is actually interesting. That's ok though, some people will love cheese pizza forever.
