Oi Oi rudie.

Ska isn't in the equation. This is to 'punk' as creed is to 'grunge'

just cuz u dont like it doesnt mean it isn't classified as ska punk

also post-grunge is a style of mainstream alt rock that cant really be defined as just grunge, which is why the tag for it exists.

It's all just a massive constructed load of bullshit. Whoever came up with the term 'ska punk' or shovels all manner of things into a particular bracket or creates a tag for the purpose of fragmenting a genre doesn't know their arse from their elbow.

genre tags are pretty important from differentiating one type of guitar music from another, and they should NEVER be looked down on because theyre very quite useful.

people who are stuck up about genres, like refusing to acknowledge one such tag exists or X album isnt part of "that genre" (oh wait) or judging a work of music on their genre tag alone is what makes genre tagging obnoxious. i dont know why people still havent figured this out.

actual mixtures of punk and ska do exist, but most newer ska punk is just pop-punk with brass instruments

"actual mixtures of punk and ska do exist, but most newer ska punk is just pop-punk with brass instruments"

Very true sadly.

"so embarrassing to talk about with regular people though"

also very true, sadly. thats why you usually name similar bands instead of genre names cuz you look stupid when you tell someone theyre listening to "tropic house"
