DBMII is still really well composed though (imo)
I feel like this is generally less well composed but has more depth if that makes sense

That totally make sense. I just prefer the depth.

During a AMA, they Swan said they want Tillian to not sing as high pitched on their next album. We'll see...

"I feel like this is generally less well composed but has more depth if that makes sense"
you're absolutely right, i read somewhere that this was recorded in like 3 weeks and ii was 3
months. i'm getting that wrong, but it's something like that. i think the jamming mentality is why
it's deeper. everyone doing their own thing but still playing off one another, it's messier but it
pays off when you can listen to how the drummer and guitarists play off eachother and hear i
completely different song when listening to how mess fits his vocals into the wall of music itself.
and you can do that 20 different ways.
dbmii was focused to a point that it felt forced. no one was having fun. and both vocalists
sounded bored. mess actually annoyed me a lot too for the first time.

That would be great. I always liked DGD's passionate vocals. Tilian's didn't really have any emotion and sounded forced.

"there is a marginal difference but people like to act as if its two different worlds for some reason.
the primary difference between dbm and dbm2 isnt in Jonnys performance, its in the bands ability as a whole to meld everything together so well, which was a trait not found on dbm2."
i disagree man here jonny is doing the vocal gymnastic thing like 95% when he sings. on II he lets loose a handful of times.
but you're right the instrumentals are the main drag. if they had released dbm quality music with jonnys II kind of vocals it would be an easy 4

"During a AMA, they Swan said they want Tillian to not sing as high pitched on their next album. We'll see..."
tides of man style vocals would have made ap much better. a lot of his singing is craig owens quality but he has his moments that make up for it.

dbmII is easily this bands best album

right behind happiness huh? the way fans rate these albums, man you can't deny how unique each release is
|
| |
haha my ratings are very outdated on these guys. Happiness is fun, but even I can't deny its dip in quality halfway through. DBMII is a more fulfilling listen in the long haul.
|
| |
yeah, dmII is my favourite by them as well - so much fun
and just like Omaha, I think that Happiness has an amazing first five tracks but then gets weaker as it goes on
I want to get started on self-titled but I'm always stuck playing Caviar and not trying the other songs
