Deeeeefs got the set list from the stage at the Vancouver show. They were fucking amazing, and I was front row and shook Kenny's hand. Dude's so chill.

Anchovies are fucking disgusting. PSHHH! BLUEH!!!
Anyways, Scoot man, were they really that good? Being in the front/potato mush is a pretty awesome experience, usually.

Oh yeah dude, just top notch. The crowd was just going nuts and I couldn't believe how many people already knew about them here. Kenny was flawless and the only flaw was that Drew broke a string on Goliath and got kinda pissed off at his roadie. Here is the set list:
Simple Boy
Goliath
Cote
All I Know
Deadman
Fear of the Sky
Set Fire to the Hive
Roquefort
Themata
Encore: New Day
The sound quality and the band's stage presence were just amazing. If you're debating on whether or not to go see them, fucking do it. The next time they come around I'm predicting they'll be in much larger arenas.
Also, Kenny was nice enough to talk to the people waiting in line to get into the club. I was really hoping he wasn't a dick and, sure enough, he was just really happy to see everyone loving his music in North America.

@Scoot
Nice one, dude. Kenny is a v. decent fellow, especially with Karnivool.
What is the heavier rock scene like in Canada? I mostly follow acts like Dan Mangan, Two Hours Traffic and Tegan & Sara (ie. folk-rock kinda stuff) when it comes to Canada, so I'm a little interested to know.

Funny you might ask that AtavanHalen.
I was surprised to see that many of the people in the club knew about them already. Many of them had come up from Australia to follow them but I didn't know that they had any popularity 'round these parts. They're getting a pretty big cult following.

I like prog, and I really tried to see why this was given such high consideration by utlimately I did not see any great progression. Awake is very consistent but ultimately just does not do enough to engage the listener.

So songs like Umbra, Goliath, Deadman and Change, all songs that really have no chorus and proceed to build up (with maybe the exception of Umbra) is not prog to you? *confused* turn it up loud, notice all the layering, the subtle changes in riffs and drumming, thats enough IMO to engage the listener. Still my personal favourite album, still stuck in my CD player after nearly a year..

Sounds too much like Tool for me to ever consider it near classic.
