Ooh definitely different from their typical sound, but they do it so well! Super unpopular opinion, but maybe my second favorite mewithoutYou after Brother, Sister. Love it lyrically and it still has enough of their sound to scratch that itch as well.

I love the opener and Bullet to Binary Pt. 2, most of the rest is perfectly fine

I just really don't like the vocal melodies/stylings on here, I feel like it doesn't fit the sound super well and comes off as super twee

Totally fair. Aaron's vocals aren't necessarily the strongest (there's a better way to word that), and I could see how it doesn't fit the style well. Just reminds me of campfire singalongs, which I also know is what people dislike about it haha

I do kinda dig it, like I definitely think it's a really good album, but coming off of Brother Sister I just think it's a bit of a letdown :/

Ooh yeah totally fair. Brother, Sister is by far my favorite and then it's a constant rotation after that, although I love all of their albums. I could see expectations totally not being met in a number of ways when you don't know to expect the sound of this one following Brother Sister.

To be fair I do like to think I keep an open mind sonically, I never mind artists changing up their sound much, I just think that this one hasn't yet fully clicked with me, perhaps it will someday (:

Album mostly grew on me from seeing them play the songs live over the years. Still pretty solid. Last time I played it I enjoyed it overall more than I remembered.
