yes this is quite different to the first wave of... oh wait, no you don't have those rated
I was thinking 'different to GY!BE' is a possibility despite there being more obvious similarities, but nope. In fact DON'T czech them, they will ruin every other band of this ilk
you like Sigur Ros, so hmm yes okay they are different and unique, there will never be another Jonsi

Yes, I am not so well versed in this genre. But tbf I find it tiring and need a break after a while.
I always want to check GY!BE, but I also always forget about them. The same was true with this band tbh

It's a vague descriptor for an incredibly versatile genre. This sounds nothing like the early-mid 90s post-rock (i.e. the best, most creative kind), which is why it's separated into 'waves'
idk, if you like the idea of following the progressive origins, where bands incorporated everything from more angular guitars, kraut rhythms, electronic influences, jazz, looser structures etc. to produce something unique and distinct from one another, then those early years are they way to go imo.

It sound amazing actually, so I'll give it a try

nice, to be clear I am referencing the following...
Glenn Branca (the grandfather, for the origins of), Slint, Talk Talk, Bark Psychosis, Tortoise, Labradford etc.
This list may or may not have been used twenty times across different threads, in slightly varying forms, lol

I realise what I am looking for in post rock is joyful, maybe melancholy, but ultimately uplifting music. That's what I really like about Yndi Halda. I am not sure this list of artists will hit that spot tbh, but I'll give it a chance nonetheless

maybe not, but they might show you something else entirely and that discovery could well be a positive one (or not, who knows). Knowing what you want is great but having preconceived ideas of how a genre should sound for you to maximise enjoyment, can also lead to a narrowing of one’s scope (not saying you’re actually doing this, just a thought).
Either way, it’s nice to see you try.

if you like joyful post-rock, try Anatomy of the Bear, Endless Dive, Caspian (Waking Season), Miaou, Ef, some 65daysofstatic, some Sigur Ros

kalk loves some Sigur, I believe (me too!)
interesting list in the sense I only know them, 65dos (used to be a big fan, still good tho), and Caspian (don’t remember enjoying them so much). The rest are a complete mystery to me

Yes, I love Sigur Ros! It's a good call though, because I haven't listened to them in a while
