I personally love GR, but I still find Still Life better, if by an inch. They are different, as the_wizard mentioned that SL is like a Blackwater Park but less refined, and Ghost Reveries is...well, more or less on its own as far as style. Infact I believe that its a mix of this and Deliverance (also a great one, but for more "experienced" Opeth fans).

Jesus Christ, I can't believe I forgot Ghost Reveries. One of my favourites from Opeth, thats for sure. It sounds like a good mixture of Damnation and Deliverance. The heaviness is coupled well with the softer passages and it seems to be a bit more refined than their previous stuff (like this album). That would be my next choice. I haven't listened to BWP in over a year. I need to listen to that again, but I don't think it'll have the same effect on me as this does.

Alright wizard I'm probably going with Ghost Reveries on your word, which hasn't let me down before!! Just randomness towards wizard as well...whats Neurosis up to if you know? I'd kill to catch them in a live setting, but are they recording or what!?!

They're actually touring Europe, last time I checked their website. I can't wait for their next album to be done.............which will probably be in a couple years or so. Thanks for the kind words!

Still loving this cd, only hope they go with a more classic opeth production next time. I basically heard all of the melodies and intricacies of this album in the first 4 listens, which kind of spoiled the epic and mysterious feel opeth albums usually have. Still find myself spinnin the disk a couple times a week though.

Thats what I thought when I wrote that too hahaha. I will break 100 by the time I do up my top ten for 2008.

I had no idea whatsoever that Itunes showed the play count for cds! How do you enable this?

I can't remember because I'm not in front of my computer right now. I think you right click on the top bar and you will be given options to 'check off' what field you want to see appear.

Yeah this doesnt have great replay value. I've listened to it a lot, but its kind of hard to sit through it all. Then again wizard would probably disagree because he's listened to it like 60 some times.
