How did Nightmare Before Christmas go from being the most awesome stop motion movie ever to a shitty teeny-bopper clothing brand?

It's annoying - It really was amazing, and still is, but its been blunted by all the merchandise and idiotic connection to "emo".
The soundtrack is awesome too, someone should do a review of it on here
