Maybe I'm just not hearing something other people are, but I can't get into Alaska or TSC nearly as much.

I'm right with you. All of BTBAM's albums are sick but this one has at least twice as much replay value as any of their other releases. There's just so much more going on.

The first half of the album, maybe.

I relistened to this and I like the musical aspect a bit more this time round but the vocals are still mindnumbingly terrible

I used to agree but the vocals just grow on you with repeated listens (took like 10 for me)...i feel this is so good msically that you don't need to enjoythe vocals at all to listen, but after doing that for a while they just started to feel right...his vocals are very distinct and he has a style all his own (even if you think it sucks it's pretty discernable from the pack) and i like that a lot...plus Ants of the Sky is god-like

The end solo in White Walls is orgasmic.

The last 5 minutes period. From the final breakdown all the way to the final piano outro.
Amazing.

The way you feel about Watershed McP, that's roughly how I feel about this album.

tbh i dont even know why they made this album an hour, they coulda easy cut 10-15 minutes off it, but everything starting from the sun of nothing is just soooooo good, like a constant 45 minutes or so of metal goodness
i just start from sun of nothing, dont even bother with the first 3 (or if u wanna get technical 2) tracks n e moreThis Message Edited On 09.03.08

yeah The Decade Of Statues is kind of a weak track.

If it wasn't for that track and a little bit of Informatl Gluttony, this would get a 5 no question.

the first couple of songs is what really threw my opinion of this album to shit. im still more of an old btbam kinda guy, but the the sun of nothing and white walls are definitely 2 of their best tracks.
might bump up to a 4, as i have begun liking this cd exponentially more than i originally did This Message Edited On 09.03.08

Musically I think its one of the most interesting albums of the year. Im not saying its the best, but definitly should be considered. Can it come across that there trying to hard? in my opinion maybe, but i think the musical compositions are really unique and cool. Tommys Vocals to me can seem annoying at parts, but i dont think there unbearable. Compared to other "metalcore" type albums, "Colors" without a doubt crushes

Right, because they didn't allow the parameters of the metalcore sound to constrain them. Which more bands seriously need to consider doing. The solo at the end of White Walls...anyone else thinks it sounds like dragonforce if they were, you know...good?

just the sweeping part of that solo. To me, superficially anyways, it resembles a dragonforce solo, only i don't hate it while I'm listening to it.
