More like, Crimson is a collection of riffs and melodies blended for 40 minutes.
I've had this album since its release and while there are some really cool moments, one cannot help but notice it is extremely disjointed instead of the smooth, natural evolution of a song.
It does sound awkward every now and then but overall, it's decent. Nothing great though and certainly not the 40-minute song it pretends to be.
