I didn't do it to avoid getting made fun of, I did it because I was personally tired of associating my username directly with the song/band. Sort of like if my username was MarilynManson6969 or something, it just no longer felt appropriate to me. Perhaps just as importantly, I'm lazy, and not I get to type 6 less letters every time I sign in!
Edit: and yes, I realize I'll still always be associated with the band anyway, but w/e, it's about taking that first step.

I fully agree with this. I've said this a lot on this site, but I "missed" The Devil and God. I didn't listen to it when it came out, I didn't attach my teenage angst or identity to it, so I'm not as big a fan of it (or this band) as other people. Don't get me wrong, I love the band's music. But I love it because I love the music, not because it has some deeper meaning for me...except for 'Deja Entendu', which is the first album I heard from them.
But as far as just putting on Brand New for a listen, it's either going to be Daisy or SF, and more likely it'll be SF.
