the announcement calls them death/black which is probably just record label "we don't understand genres" talk but them adding bm influence is really exciting to me. especially in the wake of all those deathcore bands deciding to rip off dimmu borgir in the last few years, it'd be neat for a big name dm band to show how to do that properly.

I don't mind a flava of BM. I was mostly hoping they'd expand on the melodicism and post metal influence, but with greater variety. I've been listening to a lot of Colored Sands recently so that's probably skewing my desires. Homogeneity isn't necessarily a negative, yet most of their material feels quite erm... 'singular'. I would love to hear their take on something more progressive (provided the production is dynamic enough)
