I mean he's right, if there's one way to describe this album it's derivative

Yeah, this heavily borrows from voivod in all the best ways of course.

I can't think of other bands who employ eagle screeches in their music.

"Generic over indulgent thrash metal isn't my thing"

The fact that you give this a 2 and Seventh Son a 5 is pretty hilarious.

What's wrong with Seventh Son? I mean, this is waaaaaaaaay more interesting to me, but nothing wrong with that record.

Seventh Son has fantastic leads and little else. If you want good '80s Dickinson Maiden, you're better off with Piece of Mind, Powerslave and Somewhere in Time instead.

Always found Seventh Son to be their best along with Powerslave, you really can't go wrong with early Maiden.

Completely agreed. Seventh Son and Powerslave are their best. But then again, it's so hard to make such statements with certainty as they're one of the rare bands with such a diamond-encrusted discography that I can listen to Piece of Mind / Somewhere in Time and have either of them become my temporary favourite.

Also, PSA: The next person who votes on Number of the Beast will be the 4000th rating for that particular album. I find that cool.

Has there been any update from David regarding the future of this band since 75% of the band quit? New members or new album news?
