Titan, I couldn't care less if you love or hate this record, what irked me is the way you went about it. All love tho, last thing I wanted was to stir any serious shit up, I mean this is still 2005 internet and people get to shit on each other without taking it seriously on this site I hope

to piggyback off of johnny's last line, yeah absolutely no beef wanted here or anywhere on this site, other than some good old shit talking from time to time

fair enough! i went about it the way i did to get a reaction out of the likes of zak, trif, and the johnny comment etc., knowing that I would eventually get one from them......sorry if i strung a nerve to anyone who enjoys this - wasn't the intent..... i did enjoy it too at one time.....i even own 2 physical copies of it haha (vinyl, cd) so i did my diligence.....i like the second half at least

@JOTW i think you're on the money re: skewed ratings from the time of release... probably had even more of an effect here compared to TKOL. a big portion of the internet metal nerd community circa 2011 felt personally betrayed by mikael when this came out lol

songwriting wise, yeah i wouldn't disagree that this was at least an interesting change of pace from their previous direction... my main gripe isnt necessarily with the transitions, it's that there are several instances of really cool sections that end way too quickly and aren't expanded upon, and for every one of those, there's a lukewarm section that goes on twice as long as it should

i will say i like this a little bit more each time i listen

Agreed Trif! Thank you for recognizing the untruths that were thrown my way!

Keeping it positive though, Famine and Folklore for the win…

Agreed, really love the jazzy folk aesthetic they went for with this. The title-track's homage to Jan Johansson to start us off cements that for me.
