>I've always wanted to check out Tool, they're obviously insanely popular amongst you guys. I've just never vibed with their sound though. I'm wondering if this album is a good stepping-in point?

Fear Inoculum technically contains the best music Tool ever made, but Lateralus is the better album. This just has much better production and presentation, cohesive themes and lyrics, the members are in a better form too.

I don’t get why people act like nerds here without understanding the basics of the music industry? An album is more than just music, it's a blend of performance, recording, mixing, packaging, track arrangement and more. Or maybe you're just saying the songs on Lateralus are better compositions than those on Fear Inoculum, but if that's the case, you're either deaf or plain wrong.
