The vox in The Silent Circus caught me out when I first heard it because I heard this and Alaska first. Takes some getting used to. This is more consistent, but Alaska has their best song *cough* Selkies *cough*

This album is instrumentally proficient, these guys definitely show off their abilities on this album.
But musically it does nothing for me, I think the albums a giant snorefest with the exception of Sun
of Nothing. If a completely new band had created this album I wouldn't have given it a chance, or a
second chance, etc.

Ants of the Sky is ridiculously good

you guys and your screaming music dx

It's easier to get growls/screams on target in metal in contrast to screams. Can't stand those whiney wails in so much recent metalcore

I used to dig this band but the vocals (both clean and monster noises) just really rub me the wrong way now

aww I quite dig the monster noises as you call them. They're better on Alaska but I love the diversity. The cleans were pretty good on this and Alaska but they somehow became more whiney on Parallax I & II. Can't be dealing with that shizz

I can't really listen to metalcore anymore anyway even though BTB&M are genrebenders.
I've never actually heard this or Alaska in full. I only remember their last three releases, maybe I'll jam those early ones for a while instead.
