You'd be hard pressed to find anyone saying NSV was a downgrade. That said, I'm not acceding to the notion that it's "so much" more eccentric. They refined the nuttiness and wrote some of the best shit ever in the process, sure, but you guys are making it sound like this was standard fare.

I dunno this sounds more controlled, for lack of a better word, whereas NSV feels like it is barely held together and that it can spin out of control any second. It's almost sloppy and rushed, but it just kind of falls into place. First time I listened to NSV I just had to laugh.

The grunting bass guitar, the perfect sounding snare, the absolutely insane vocals. The solos are amazing too, even though the guitars are a little bit buried in the mix. I no longer think the production holds this back, in fact I wouldn't change anything. Rating updated: 4 --> 4.5.
