“was that supposed to be derogatory?” Would be funny if it was. I don’t see Ulcerate as “the tool of death metal”, more just its own thing.

I was really just trolling lol, but it was meant as a jab at rabid ulcerate fans, not any real parallel between tool and ulcerate's music

I've kind of always considered Deathspell Omega fans to be the closest to Tool fans as far as being fucking annoying / pretentious goes.

Honestly we've come full circle where the Tool anti-fans are probably more annoying than the hardcore Tool fans and we're probably all just better off not talking about Tool (I say as a Tool fan)

@pizzabear

Probably depends on where you look... but I've found that pretty much every band that has that drug culture (you gotta do shrooms to really get the full experience bro!) centered around their music has a uniquely obnoxious fanbase

I mean, probably half of Tool's fanbase is perpetually stoned rednecks

That obviously doesn't apply to ulcerate though. Also, this album is very good!

You really can't get Cutting the Throat of God until you've suffered ego death from a DMT trip in the back of a Denny's parking lot on a Tuesday at 4am because ego death is the cutting of the throat of the god inside of you

This is sounding more and more like a David Lynch movie

I read Row's comment as saying PizzaBear's comment, not the album, was like a Lynch film but I could be wrong

We just can't help to see what's really good and transcendental. Now if you excuse me I'll have a glass of caduceus wine in your honor while I read some Bataille. 🍷 📚

David Lynch would be a good match for Ulcerate's music, although Oranssi Pazusu is a way better fit

"They took me upstairs and showed me these things called blastbeats. And they showed me many riffs and growls and different things. Then they took me for a ride in their RAV4 to get lunch, and it's not that I don't like fish & chips, but that's all they had."

also you're right Tim lol
