love these guys to death but i would've never thought jamming time and space twice over at the gym in 2018 that they'd eventually become the hottest act in rock music
even my mom be bumping mystery in the car lol

was it?
how many times have you seen a Taco Bell advert Johnny? lmao

Definitely sounded like a punk band that could go mainstream

they definitely sound like a somewhat mainstream appealing band, yeah
but if Taco Bell is like Dominoes or sumthin (is it?) and then being 'pre-game' for national sporting events - that's a different level of 'mainstream', that's biiiiiiiig, no?
although maybe shit's different in the U.S.
in the U.K. rock like this basically doesn't exist anymore, as far as the 'mainstream' is concerned anyway

Honestly if any band were gonna blow up to this degree I would’ve thought Code Orange. They’re playing all the Knotfests and are throwing in so much of early 2000’s flavor that I thought they were bound for stardom
Glow On is just that appealing of an album. And now they’re opening for fucking blink? If you thought they were big now just wait

Glow on has way more crossover normie appeal than code orange ever will, even as a weird Tripp pants wearing nu nu metal band and not a “scary” metalcore band

Is it me, or does Code Orange's newer song just sucks

Oh no they totally suck, and definitely have less mainstream appeal. I just really thought they’d blow up with the slipknot crowd and it just hasnt happened

I feel like Vein and Knocked Loose has more appeal, they both helped boost the hardcore scene

Maybe, but they both have potential. I would love Vein to open up for Slipknot.
Maybe it won't, I don't know, I just hope another band revives any rock scene instead of Imagine Dragons

“Oh no they totally suck, and definitely have less mainstream appeal. I just really thought they’d blow up with the slipknot crowd and it just hasnt happened”
Hahaha It’s kinda sick though, that they’d abandon making cool music for dumb nu metal songs and have almost nothing to show for it. They have done some collab stuff with WWE though so they’re still making money
“I feel like Vein and Knocked Loose has more appeal, they both helped boost the hardcore scene“
More like they’re the entry level bands that everyone freaks out over because they’ve never heard that kind of music before. Just like all the “hype” entry level bands before them. As far as boosting the scene, they bring new younger kids that have never been to shows before but that’s about it

I think u got it the other way around chef.
I’ve seen some footage of Code Orange opening for Slipknot and them opening for Suicideboys and the Suicideboys crowd were WAYYYY more into them than the Slipknot crowd, so if their newer stuff latched onto any crowd it’s that crowd.
But yeah I totally get why Turnstile got bigger than them. Code’s music is offputting and weird, Turnstile is more upbeat

That knocked loose ep is a hard 2.8/5 but it’s better than anything else they’ve ever done

"they definitely sound like a somewhat mainstream appealing band, yeah"
i mean yeah but that's very easy to say after this album
time and space was way more your standard hardcore affair despite having similarly clean production. feel like its easy to hear "glow on" type tid bits in time and space today, but in 2018 i def did not think them mellowing out would make their music better and push them to selling out the biggest venue in my area that isn't an NBA arena.
way more hardcore bands seem to go the aforementioned code orange route when they push in a more accessible direction and start making shitty music that alienates their original fanbase, but not these guys
