The latest one takes it to the next extreme and is entirely instrumental. Straight shredding and weird badass riffs for 65 minutes

There's no vocals? Why?

I’m not 100% sure the reasoning tbh but after half the stuff on Abysm being instrumental it’s not all that surprising.

I didn’t even realize they had put out another album tbh. Considering how much hype they had around abysm I’m surprised there was no buzz, guess that’s the problem with long gaps between albums

to be fair, blood incantation merch has become a cultural phenomenon unto itself. maybe he meant its the decade's defining death metal album within the context of Breeee Vogue

'That is why I could never get behind Immolation (except Majesty and Decay), they don't have songwriting imo, just a series of very metal riffs. I know metal fans here love them but I do not.'

I probably enjoy Immo more than you (at a guess), but I agree with the general point. Majesty and Decay is easily my fave by them. At times it feels as though I really dig their sound - which encapsulates the monstrously heavy and evil DM I sometimes crave, rather than the actual songs. M&D is the exception, the whole thing does indeed sound massive, but the song-writing keeps me coming back for more.
