Do you want the work mo-oore than the reward?

mmmm ultra depressed with work and this quarantine, maybe I should revisit this one. I remember loving the throwback sound for them, but it not having a ton of longevity.

Gave it a re-listen this morning and agree about it being overwhelmingly positive. Its a good record but I dont think it touches their best work. Not tons of staying power.

Falling for this one again! I forgot how much it recaptured the youthful energy of their pre-Invented work. I could sustain my body on their bittersweet melodies and chord progressions alone. Ugh I love this.

This is no Futures or Integrity Blues (if you can't tell, I love their atmospheric side), but I can honestly say it rivals Bleed American for me and is sort of the mature/adult answer to that record's style.

Totally! Not to disparage the more slow, moody work they "grew" into, but it doesn't always click for me the way I want it to. And boy, do I really wish I loved Invented/Damage/Integrity Blues.
Chase This Light was almost too cheerful for my liking, but this does remind me of some Bleed America/Futures vibes. Upbeat, but with that hint of sadness/loss that I crave.

wonder if they'll go for a DVD release down the line

I didn't, unfortunately. Just couldn't justify the price for all three of them. But I'll probably watch the Clarity one if I can.

Shame this album wasnt released in the 2000s, many should-be hit singles through out here that would have done well then. I can say that about many songs in their output post-bleed-american work though. More songs from futures, chase this light, invented, and this should have dominated charts.

The livestreams were fantastic with Futures being the strongest (even though Clarity is my favorite JEW album — was an excellent performance as well).

I'll have to catch up on all these live streams. Didn't even know they were happening.
Also, 100% agreed with Observer's point about how so many modern Jimmy Eat World songs essentially get brushed under the rug when 15-20 yrs ago they would have been stellar chart-toppers. The shifting musical landscape is a wondrous, and often frustrating, thing.

Always annoys me with JEW that everyone fingers themselves over The Middle, when it's not even top 20 JEW

Yeah that's the mainstream hit so I guess it's to be expected among the normies, but how in the world you spin that song 1 billion times without even bothering with Futures deep cuts, or Integrity Blue or this album, is downright infuriating.

You're right, Larry David is way better

I need the Futures "live stream" now. Can't find anyway to get it without an illegal download unfortunately :/
