I actually never knew that about Carcinogen Crush. Turns out that it is a similar story with Where We Used to Play (written during DU sessions, not released, re-recorded during CL sessions, released as a bonus song).

Learning the Where We Used to Play fact shocked me because that track screams CL, but that is probably partially owed to it being re-recorded during those sessions and taking on that albums sound.

I dream of AFI one day dropping all their demos. they've stated many times that for albums like DU, they recorded over 50 songs. there are full albums of demos that were left on the cutting board. Its unlikely, but would be an insane treat to get one day.

Back in the day, when I was on the old AFI message boards in the interim between STS and DU, we somehow had a list of the STS b-sides that hadn't been released yet. Like, we knew that Rabbits, Carcinogen, and 100 Words existed, but we had no idea what they sounded like. It really added to the lore and mysterious nature of STS. You'd sometimes just try and imagine what they might be like lol.

still blown away that we did end up getting The View From Here and Weight of Words. there are some other titles I remember that may or may not be real: Chair Kicking and Dark Morning Conspirators (the dichotomy lol)
