Yeah I’m hoping it continues to grow on me. I definitely like it, just don’t love it.
Think I’ll move on to Sci fi for now, but I’ll come back to this and maybe then.

Yeah this is a huge grower, although I don't know if it will have the same impact listening to it in retrospective fashion. I listened to this for 8 years waiting for a new BN album, so I developed a bond with it. If you're approaching it with every BN album to choose from, it might be easier to dismiss.

Sounds like a legit perspective.
I’m definitely not done with this to the point where I start spinning Sci fi and never listen to this. I’m definitely gonna continue to listen to this in the days/weeks to come, with Sci fi. It has already grown on me a decent amount.

Devil and God was their most immediate album to me, except for Sci Fi but i already was into them when that came out.

I wish I did. It would’ve been cool for them to come back with and go out on a bang

... They did. They went out in possibly the best fashion possible imo (musically of course, not the MeToo nail in the coffin). Science Fiction somehow managed to live up to most fans unreasonably high expectations. Especially after the singles over the years (Mene and I am a Nightmare) hinted at a possible big letdown.

I think it’s a fine record. Gave it a 3.5. But it’s easily my least favorite BN record. Like I said, I wish I felt that it was a triumphant return, but it just doesn’t even come CLOSE to Daisy or TDAG for me. Not even in the same league

Is this the best Brand New album?

To me. Worth noting that it was a major grower though

Is that so?

Yeah. My first few experiences with this record left me wanting to just spin TDAG instead. Then I shelved this one for years, came back, and preferred it. Hell, I’m def gonna revisit Sci Fi down the road. Maybe that’ll grow too

Ok. I'll listen to it then.

Best Brand New but not best Brand New strings album - this is small town garage misanthropy and aggro, so dunno what you'll make of this Alex
|
| |
I mean, The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me had nice strings but most of the album doesn't have them, maybe I'll like this one too.
|
| |
Maybe :O This has the least indulgent posturing and the most daring songwriting of any BN so I like it the best, but could see you going either way ;]
