They've certainly improved over the years

"never been able to catch gojira on tour but mastodon's tour with dillinger and red fang was one of the best shows i've ever been to. i've heard they can be hit or miss live though"
That actually sounds like a hell of a show.

still not getting the negative reception on this

I really dig it. Yeah it's not as heavy overall compared to From Mars To Sirius or The Way Of All Flesh but it flows really well and some interesting changes. First two tracks are easily my favorites but Stranded, Magma and Low Lands are good.

it was amazing. dillinger played a ton off of option paralysis, which is my favorite by them, red fang did their thing and mastodon played a dope, multi-album spanning set

I love how you can fall into a trance with this album at times. And at times its aggressive as shit. Pray is the perfect example of that.

Never digged Gojira as much as now. This album bangs in my haead like old metal used to do back in the days.
"Sylvera" is a hell of a single, "Stranded" rips and "Only Pain" just floored me.
I can see this one becoming a classic.

"Never digged Gojira as much as now."
Huh, I feel the complete opposite.

Oh yeah, I still adore them. Just met them last week at a VIP show, they put on an insane live set. I actually think they are one of the most interesting bands in metal right now, but I just think this album was a slight step back. Might lower this to a 35

I had a chance to see them but they were playing with mastodon so i couldnt justify spending all that money to only see the opening band. I cannot stand mastodon, not hating on anyone who likes them cus i know they are adored here, i just do not care for em. But damn, i should have went and just left after gojira

I went to that tour basically just for Gojira, they didn't get to play long but they destroyed.

I'm sure they'll come back. I'll see em then. I'm not the biggest fan of metal concerts though to begin with, im not into the whole moshing thing, but i have been to plenty of em. friends of mine have seen Cannibal Corpse live and said it was great, i wanna catch them sometime

Mastodon's newer work is meh. Crack The Skye and everything before that is the shit, though. I was at that show, Gojira destroyed them, agreed Gmork.

I mean, try it out dude. Apparently a lot of people here dig it more than I do. But yeah, for me it's definitely The Hunter of their discog.

I'd describe this as Gojira's The Hunter moment, though I did enjoy this better than I ever enjoyed The Hunter

okay that's good enough for me, I guess. it can't be that bad, right? even The Hunter is a good album in the grand scheme of things.
